If you’ve ever been harassed by annoying spam e-mail (and who hasn’t?), then you’ve probably been a little bit curious, about who sent the spam. Quite often, the e-mail address you see in the sent field, is a misleading, or fake address. Spammers are far too clever these days, to make it that easy to track them down. The fines and penalties for spamming, are getting serious, and these guys/girls really don’t want to be found out. It’s not impossible though, to track them down, and trace your email.

Email spam, which is also known as (UBE’s) or unsolicited bulk email or commercial email is the very method that hackers and black hat marketers who send unwanted and unneeded emails that are loaded with commercial messages and content in huge quantities and with a frequency that is highly repetitive. It really become one of the first problems when the internet went from becoming a military tool to a consumer tool in the early 1990’s.

Before I answer the questions on spam filters I’ll give a little background on spam. In summary, spam for the miseducated, is an abuse of any form of digital and electronic systems of messaging, leveraging on established communications network to send out UBE or UCE’s (unsolicited bulk/commercial emails) that have commercial messages attached to them.
